Miles and Miles of Smiles

Trends’ Australian Adventure

“Travel is a way of educating, equipping us,” says Marissa Dela Paz, our General Manager, speaking of Team Trends’ recent company trip to Australia. ”This is how we train our people—with direct experience.”

And what an experience it was for all of us!

We’re talking about our company trip to Sydney, Australia!

At 11:55pm on August 21, our first batch of travelers departed aboard a spacious, new Boeing 777 aircraft bound for the land ‘down under’ (batch 2 would travel on the 24th). Sydney is an 8-hour flight from Manila, so our team arrived at 9am on the morning of August 22, and we hit the ground running.

A coach picked us up at the airport and took us on a mini city tour. We stopped at St. Mary’s Cathedral, a church built in the late 1800s in a gothic revival style of architecture. Though the cathedral stands in the heart of one of the world’s most picturesque cities, it is still a standout, amidst Sydney’s many modern structures.

The next day, we went on a tour of the iconic Sydney Opera House, which along with the Sydney Harbor Bridge, gives the city its unique visual identity. Contrary to what its name may suggest, the Opera House is not solely for opera music; it is a bustling entertainment complex that stages over a thousand live performances every year, ranging from classical to modern music, dance, theater and other genres of entertainment.

Another sight you must not miss is Circular Quay which, as the central hub of the city’s harbor, is home to many eateries, shopping options and parks. You will not be short of options here.

That same day, we also headed to The Rocks, an area founded soon after the establishment of Australia as a British colony. We had lunch at the food market there, which offered a wide variety of delicious food.

And later, we went to the Queen Victoria Building, a shopping center housed in a beautiful old building, and made the quick hop to another must-visit, Sydney’s Darling Harbour. Soon enough, we ended up in Chinatown as pasalubong shopping was in order!

The next morning, batch 2 of Team Trends arrived in Sydney—a joyous, exciting reunion of friends!

Together, we returned to St. Mary’s to offer up some prayers. We then proceeded to a place called ‘The Gap‘, a ridge overlooking the vast expanse of the Pacific Ocean as it breaks against the treacherous, rocky terrain far below. Next was Bondi Beach, Australia’s most famous and celebrated surfing beach.

The next day, August 25 was a day of excitement that had us travel to the Blue Mountains and Koala Park Sanctuary outside the city. It was a lot of fun to interact with the koalas and kangaroos, both animals unique to Australia. We even got to see how farmers shear their sheep! If you’d like to learn more about and experience the scenic beauty that is the Blue Mountains, check out We got to ride the scenic railway and cable car, which gave us a view to remember.

Team Trends’ recent Australia trip gave us a firsthand experience of the joy of travel we are so intent on celebrating here at Trends Travelmart. We returned home from the land ‘down under’ with a fresh motivation to serve you, our clients, as you embark on your next travel adventure.
